On Saturday Feb 10 I subbed for Diane Herring's show Lunch on the Back Porch. I had a ball. (I also didn't make any technical goofs.)
Diane plays pretty traditional bluegrass, and I had told her that I would wander toward more modern stuff, which was fine with her.
Themes:
Jerry Douglas and Sam Bush seemed to be on more than half the cuts, which was not my design. On the other hand, what's wrong with that?
Lots of beautiful voices: Moondi Klein, Dolly Parton, John Cowan, Mollie O'Brien, Alan O'Bryant, John Starling, Maura O'Connell, Emmylou, Linda Ronstadt, Jonathan Edwards, Alison Krauss, Peter Rowan. Sam Bush is a great singer, though not a voice in the same class.

I'm five sorry years out of Kentucky and your show made me feel I was home again. Liked it more than Diane's - you play the same cutting edge music I used to hear on the NPR station at Morehead. College there + many Nashville backup musicians, retired and working, sit in and talk. Soon as I figure out how to get (and use) an Ipod, I'll be listening to them again. In the meantime, Diane will do nicely and an occasional guest stint from you would be great.
Re your jazz show - damned if I can stand to have KZYX on after the morning news. What a whacked station that is. Are you on anywhere else?
      Thanks......L.J.
